This piece was created from start to finish by hand on the lathe. First, two bowls were made, then the joint was carefully chiseled out, and finally the whole piece was spun on the lathe from the flat end.
This piece was inspired by a photo taken by Danylo Kolos on the Galapagos Islands. The hand made foam and clay mold was vacuum formed in a co-polyester sheet and this was filled with a dyed polyester resin.
This fibre optic lamp blossoms like a lily in warm temperatures, when you are near, and closes in cool temperatures, when you are far.
